WenDo Workshop

Every woman* can defend herself and protect herself from physical and verbal attacks!

The name WenDo is a neologism composed of Wen, an abbreviation for the English word “women,” and Do, Japanese for “way,” meaning “way of women.”

In WenDo, we train:

  • awareness to recognize “delicate” situations and remain calm
  • self-confidence to set verbal boundaries and ward off danger
  • easy-to-learn self-defense techniques for emergencies, in which we use our body weapons effectively against the attacker’s weak points.

WenDo is not only helpful in emergency situations, but also in everyday life to take good care of yourself and set boundaries, e.g., with coworkers and people in your personal environment.

  • Proof for students: Copy of valid enrollment certificate

    • if you are not a research assistant: proof of doctoral studies at FAU Tech
    • If you are a research assistant at FAU Tech: details of your department and chair

A maximum of 20 women can participate in the course.
A waiting list will be maintained.

If you have registered and are unable to attend

This workshop is funded by the Faculty of Engineering so that you can participate free of charge. This workshop is part of measures to increase the proportion of women in science.

Please only register if you are definitely going to participate. If you register for the workshop and are absent without excuse on the day of the event, you will be barred from all further support measures to increase the proportion of women in science at the Faculty of Engineering. (e.g., conference funding, international visiting scholarship and coaching)
