Day of the Faculty of Engineering

We look back with satisfaction on this year’s Day of the Faculty of Engineering, which, due to the special situation, was held digitally via ZOOM on November 20, 2020. The new format was well received – this is what we can tell from the number of participants, some of whom were almost 200, as well as some personal feedback.

The TF day started at 2:00 pm as usual with a review of the past year by the dean.

This was followed by the eagerly awaited keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Karl J.J. Mayrhofer, Director of the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nuremberg for Renewable Energies (HI ERN), on the topic

“Hydrogen technologies for the energy transition – a technical research perspective?”

In the following question and answer session the participants could ask Prof. Mayrhofer their questions directly via chat.

Besides the honouring of this year’s prize winners there was also a Science Slam. Current research topics of the awarded persons and the departments were presented. The audience had the opportunity to vote for the best contribution via ONLINE voting. We congratulate again the winners

1st place: Prof. Dr. Katharina Herkendell “Bert for Biomethane”

2nd place: PD Dr.-Ing. habil. Christian Rieß “Upcycling – We make something out of data garbage”

3rd place: Dr.-Ing. Peter Schweizer “Of the smallest things in the world”

You are able to view the following program points as well as further slam contributions here again:

The day of the TF will take place next year on 19.11.2021.
