FAU among top performers in QS subject ranking

Materials Science and Engineering best-performing subject at FAU in the international top 100

Most of the subjects at FAU have improved their ranking and FAU’s employer reputation has developed positively according to the latest QS World University Subject Ranking published by the education information service provider Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Overall FAU is rated as one of the top 200 universities worldwide for seven subjects.

Materials Sciences is again the top performing subject at FAU at 70th place in the international ranking, an improvement of 25 places on the previous year. On a national level, Materials Sciences at FAU achieved sixth place in Germany. In the international ranking, Chemical Engineering is among the top 150, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and other subjects at the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Science, are among the top 200.

FAU among the best-performing universities in Germany

Within Germany, FAU is one of the leading universities with nine subjects ranked in the top 15. Chemical Engineering achieved fifth place once again in Germany. Electrical Engineering, Materials Sciences and Mechanical Engineering were recognized in the top 10.

About QS subject ranking

In the international QS subject ranking, around 1600 universities, 16 million publications and 117 million citations are evaluated to find the top-performing subjects. The ranking is mainly based on a survey of researchers and employers. This year, the “International research network” indicator was added to measure how efficiently stable research collaboration is being developed. A number of new subjects were added to the ranking this year including Business and Management Studies, Geophysics, Earth and Marine Sciences, and Linguistics.
