The Faculty of Engineering supports proactive headhunting for excellent female scientists. The target agreements 2018-2022 provide funds for the promotion of guest lectures by outstanding researchers. Female guest lectures presenting their research and career paths are also role models and thereby motivating other students and young female researchers to follow a career in research.

Chairs that would like to invite a female guest scientist for a research stay at the Faculty can apply for a “Visiting Scholarship at the Faculty of Engineering”. The idea behind the scholarship is to encourage internationalisation at FAU, boost the reputation of FAU abroad and take a proactive approach to headhunting excellent young female researchers.

Funding for guest lectures by outstanding women scientists

A maximum of €1,000 in funding is available for guest lectures by female researchers from research institutions outside of Europe.

A maximum of €750 is available for guest lectures by female researchers from research institutes within Europe.

The maximum funding available for women in research from within Germany is €500.

An informal application from the chair extending the invitation is all that is needed to apply for funding towards travel expenses for guest lectures at the Faculty of Engineering. Detailed information on how to apply can be found in the guideline for application.

Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the guest lecture. Please sent your application in electronic form to Hanna Stöcker

Visiting Scholarships at the Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering offers visiting scholarships to encourage excellent young female researchers from abroad to spend time researching at the Faculty. Women who are well on their way to achieving their doctoral degree, carrying out postdoctoral research, working on their habilitation or working as a junior professor are all eligible to apply for funding.

The maximum amount of funding available for each application is €2,000. The maximum subsidy for accommodation costs is €900 per month or €30 per day. The decision as to whether or not funding is to be granted is taken by the committee of women’s representatives at the Faculty of Engineering.

Detailed information on how to apply can be found in the guidelines for application.

Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the arrival of the guest scientist. Please sent your application in electronic form to Hanna Stöcker.
